Charles Wagner was a US senator for the state of Massachusetts, who was the son of Fabius Wagner and surrogate father of Lucius as well as husband of Nancy.
His time is consumed by planning his campaign for the incoming elections for which he seeks to win another term in the Senate, his present term being at an end. This leaves him with no time to bond with his son Lucius, who is left to socialize with the house staff, especially Jovita, Alastair and Will.
As the disturbing events unfold and the staff begins to wither in number, the press catches wind about the series of events and this adds pressure on his efforts to keep the family together and his campaign going. He is also uncomfortable about his father's past involvement with the local Mafia and once Tom dies, considers confronting Fabius about a possible vendetta caused by his mob connections but however, Fabius goes missing after Lucius kills him.
Near the end of the game, he finds the secret Satanic chamber and is ready to leave the cursed household but before he can, Lucius uses mind control to make him kill Nancy with a nail gun in front of Detective Terrance who believes he has been behind all of the murders. Getting away, he comes back with two priests as he convinces them that Lucius is in fact demonic. He becomes unconscious and critically injured by a buring banister which fell on him.
In the sequel, Lucius II: The Prophecy, it is revealed that Charles survived the burning manor and been shot by McGuffin (depending on the players ending choice) and is residing on the second floor of St. Benedict's Memorial Hospital in a comatose state. Lucius then finishes him off whichever way the player chooses.
Trivia[]
- His character is likely based on Robert Thorn from The Omen because both are fathers of a child antichrist who near the end learned the truth and tried to kill their demonic son to no avail who in turn killed them. They both are were US politicians, but however, Charles is a senator while Robert is an ambassador for Great Britain.
- He is the only member of the Wagner family who didn't die in the first game.
