"Nancy, I have some concerns about your son's development. If it's at all possible, we could have a meeting later on."
― James bringing up his worries about Lucius

James was Lucius' private tutor, teaching him a range of subjects from Mathematics to Biology and art.

History[]

Background[]

James is a polite and reasonably good-natured yet reputable and highly-experienced private tutor considering Nancy hired him to ensure her son Lucius receives the best education. Despite being a good tutor for Lucius, the boy is not very fond of him and particularly dislikes the math lessons. As with other staffs in Dante Manor, he is not comfortable to work in the same building with Agnes Morgan.

Lucius[]

James can be found in the classroom at the top floor in the eastern wing, close to Charles' office. As the chapters unfold, he takes notice of Lucius' increasingly disturbing drawings and informs Nancy of this worrying aspect of the boy's development, most notably during Christmas dinner in "Holy Day Slip".

In "Shot for Education", James begins his lesson with Lucius starting from Mathemathics, much to his chagrin. Little did he knows the boy is working on the massacre in the name of his real father Lucifer. After a simple mathematic course, Lucius gives him a wrong book when he asks one about Biology, leading the private tutor to look for it himself. Such "mistake" proved to be a distraction so Lucius can carefully and discreetly place Charles' fully-loaded revolver on James' desk before. He then proceeds to use Mind Control on the distracted James and has him commits suicide by shooting himself on the skull with the gun, killing him.

Detective McGuffin will remark how deteriorating the situation in Dante Manor has become and something indeed obscured the truth. He cites the gun was indeed Charles Wagner's yet its owner was talking to his chauffeur Michael in other room at the same time. Moreover, the senator originally kept his gun in a safe in his office and not even loaded it. It doesn't helped by the fact that the situation was in complete disorder with Nancy's mental state deteriorated further with each successive deaths so much that "only a genie that could fix it all", but nevertheless found that Uncle Tom's porn studio had another purpose. James' death ultimately confirmed Charles' own fear of his family had been cursed.
